APG 2023 ZMAG Naslovna

Natural Building implies the use of local, natural and recycled materials whose production has a low ecological footprint and does not require a high proportion of industrial processing of materials. The most common building materials are straw, wood, stone, earth, brick, hemp, sheep's wool and reed. Natural Building takes care of energy efficiency by using renewable energy sources for the functioning of buildings, relying on a rich construction tradition and modern green technologies.
During May, June and July 2023, a hobbit house was built underground. The built hobbit house has a massive organic wooden structure with wooden cladding, layers of waterproofing and a triple drainage system. The front wall of the hobbit house is made of straw bales plastered with lime plaster on the outside, the interior with clay plaster, and the carpentry is made of recycled ship hatches. The floors and terraces are made of massive blue stone, the roof covering is an extensive green roof, and a raktena stove was built for heating. The hobbit house was designed by the British designer Matthew Holmes.
Igor Štavlić is one of the participants who successfully completed the 5th Academy of Natural Building in 2023 at the Recycled Estate educational center in Vukomerić from the ZMAG association.
All programs took place under the professional guidance of our teachers Kristijan Perlić, Matko Šišak, Jakov Radošević, Goran Brumić Mex, Matthew Holmes and Mihael Stošić.
We worked, we built, we studied, we celebrated!
Thanks to the entire professional team for their excellent leadership. Thank to my team of students of the 5th Academy of Natural Architecture and the new friendships made. Great experience…

Civitas 2023

New project, new partnership... Erasmus+ activity Civitas 2023: Promoting Active Citizenship through Youth Work, KA1 – Mobility of Youth Workers in which IGOR, Lifelong Learning Centre in Nature, is a project partner.

Duration of the project: from July 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023.
The project is co-financed by EU funds from the Erasmus+ program
Project partners: Fedactio (Belgium) VitaTiim (Estonia), IGOR and Prizma Association (Croatia), Ottovolante Sulcis (Italy), Young Folks (Latvia), Tavo Europa (Lithuania), Splora (Spain).
KA1 – Mobility of Youth Workers

Youth all over Europe lack knowledge about the European Union. This affects youth in a negative way because they miss out on opportunities provided by the EU, such as education or training mobility, international volunteering or youth exchanges. Furthermore, youth’s participation in democratic processes is limited by obstacles they face and by lack of knowledge about the functioning of the Union, as well as by low level of media literacy and uncritical thinking.
Youth can become more active citizens if they improve media literacy and critical thinking skills, and gain knowledge on the EU, especially about the Union's functioning, and its values. Moreover, these knowledge and skills can boost youth’s employability, increase sense of initiative and self-esteem, enhance intercultural awareness and foster European identity.
In order to better meet the needs of local youth and help them overcome social, cultural and geographic obstacles, the aim of the activity is to increase the quality of youth work of partner organisations in promoting active citizenship. Special emphasis will be put on using non-formal education methods because non-formal learning can help enhance youth’s understanding of the EU, inspire a more active participation in social and democratic processes, as well as foster a sense of belonging to the European Union.

Activity’s aim will be achieved through three specific objectives:
- increasing knowledge of partners' youth workers related to the Union’s functioning, common EU values, and fundamental rights
- increasing knowledge, competences and skills of partners' youth workers related to promoting media literacy and critical thinking among youth
- exchanging experiences of participating organisations on how to use non-formal education in promoting active citizenship among youth.

NGO's Croatian Permaculture, Permaculture Dalmacija, Vestigium and Association for Community Economy organized the 4th national permaculture convergence in Croatia on June 3 and 4, 2023 in Križevci, at the Mariapoli Faro Center.
Permaculture convergence is a gathering of permaculturists whose purpose is to exchange knowledge, present permaculture activities, projects and activities, and award permaculture designer diplomas. Traditionally, we consider permaculturists to be people who have successfully completed a standard 72-hour permaculture design course (PDC) under the guidance of a graduated permaculture designer in the country or abroad, but the gathering is also open to people who have not completed the course.
The 4th national permaculture convergence was also attended by Igor Štavlić, who completed the standard 72-hour permaculture design course (PDC) in 2022 at the Recycled Estate in the village of Vukomerić, organized by ZMAG.
